Meet the family behind the Nook
Personal care, built from years of experience.
Nebel's Nook is a family-run, home-based boarding and daycare retreat operated by Callie and Luke Grumbine in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
Callie has worked professionally with dogs since 2017. Her experience includes serving as manager at Keystone K9 and as daycare manager at Stonehill. She is currently enrolled in canine behavior classes and provides basic obedience training.
Life at the Grumbine home has always revolved around animals. Along with raising their two young daughters, Callie and Luke care for two dogs, two cats, two pigs, more than 40 chickens, and six ducks. Caring for animals isn't simply their job—it's part of their family's everyday life.
Why we opened the Nook
A family decision that became a lasting tribute.
After moving farther from Callie's workplace and welcoming their second daughter, the daily commute and childcare demands made it increasingly difficult to balance family life with the work Callie loved. That change inspired Callie and Luke to create something of their own: a small, personal dog-care experience built around their family and home.
The business was originally going to be called Callie's Canine. Then, on July 20, 2026, the family unexpectedly lost their beloved male dog, Nebel. Renaming the business Nebel's Nook felt like the right way to honor him and carry his memory into a place devoted to caring for other families' dogs.

Every dog starts with a free trial day.
A free, shortened trial day is required before any daycare or boarding reservation. It gives your dog time to meet us, experience the space, and show us whether the Nook feels comfortable and safe for them.
If we believe another setting would better meet your dog's needs, we'll be honest and recommend other kennels that may be a better fit.
